WSL install fails with errors on Windows 10 guest VM · Issue # · microsoft/WSL · GitHub – Horizon Blank Screen Causes

But first, how did I obtain this problem? It was working last time I checked. I have VMware Fusion When viewing this setting it was just a grey box without any option to add or enable an application somehow. I tried my MacBook Pro which I also recently upgraded. It has the same setup. Same thing. Basically useless at this point. The fix that worked for me was the following:. Before Fix – figure After Fix – figure Now I am happy that I have a working VM, but what is going on here.

So what exactly is TCC db and what is the sqlite insert command modifying? Running the following command gives an indication of what is being modified:. Looking at these log files, you can find information that may pertain to the H. A corrupt VMware tools install, whether software or drivers can cause display issues. Make sure that the drivers including the display driver are installed and functioning properly. Often, re-installing the Horizon Agent can resolve issues.

Make sure that if you are running bit Windows in the VM then you install and use the bit Horizon Agent. Some users have reported an error on this driver and issues loading it, resulting in a blank screen.

Also, as a reminder, it is recommended that you re-install the Horizon agent in versions up to and including Horizon 8 after upgrading VMware Tools. Make sure you are adhering to the specifications put forth by VMware. Please see the following links for more information. Always try different protocols to see if the issue is associated with all, or one.

If the issue is with a specific protocol, you can view the protocol log files. It never stops surprising me how old some of the VMware Horizon View environments are that some businesses are running. VMware regularly updates, and releases new versions of VMware Horizon View that resolve known issues and bugs in the software. As you can see there are a number of different things that can cause Horizon View to show a blank screen on login.

Let me know if this helped you out, or if you find other reasons and feel I should add them to the list! This is a great list. Onetime we even had the user upgrade the horizon client. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to write these posts. They really helped me troubleshoot my issues with Horizon. The information and suggestions really helped point me in the right direction to find the solution to my problem.

I always appreciate the feedback! Thank you for this list! Can you explain what you mean when you mention DNS issues? DNS should be functioning. Both forward and reverse look-ups should be working, valid, and in place for the physical machine with the Horizon agent installed. I know that it says above that Enterprise edition is required but I was successfully using this configuration for a while before the black screen issue became constant.

Is this a Win10 VM with the Horizon agent? Or is this a physical PC with the Horizon agent installed? There is known issues when installing the Horizon agent on Physical PCs where an issue similar to yours occurs when the OS is not Enterprise edition, however if this is a VM then with some further troubleshooting you should be able to get it corrected.

I had a question while I was reading the article but Stephen confirmed my thoughts in chat before I read the rest of the article. I had no idea that the links were broken… They used to work!!! Hope this helps! First off, This is a great list of things to look for and try, really great. We have a intermittent problem of Blast displaying a black screen when reconnecting to your VM. Going thru the blast logs from a good session and bad session on the same machine I cam across, Horizon Indirect Display , does not support this topology warning as well as constantly retrying to Retrying FindDIsplayID and it never does, I think that is where the black screen comes from in our case.

Also it seems to crash the Agent by looping this process. So we removed it as the good log only seemingly never tries to use the Horizon IDD. I came across an old forum that mentioned plugging in your monitor cables from left to right in the proper order 1,2,3 with 1 as the primary. Mine was in 2,1,3 with 2 being primary. Trying the fix now. Might be something to also add to the list. Unless you have an idea for why FindDisplayID is failing randomly on reconnects.

Its happening only for physical desktops.. Please advise!! Your Comment. Name required.
