I created two separate documents, put them under the same load, and originated them separately to either my local PC non-backup or to my OneDrive backup, where I save everything because I have 1 TB. The document consistently slowed or froze only when saved to OneDrive despite my internet testing upload and download far exceeding the mere couple dozen kilobytes my average Word document is. A quick search of OneDrive troubleshooting pointed to a sync conflict between Office trying to save it and OneDrive, and by going to the OneDrive settings for Office and unchecking “Use Office to sync files This thread is locked.
